Welding RRV

This model variant is used to carry out repairs to the rail portion of the permanent way infrastructure. The work includes the cutting out of worn or damaged sections of rail and the welding in of new replacement sections. The vehicle is based on the UD80 8-ton chassis. The main components are as follows:

Closed canopy load body construction, consisting of a tool storage compartment and a crew cab suitable for seating 8 personnel.

A further 3 personnel can be seated in the main cab of the vehicle.

The major equipment mounted to the vehicle includes a welding machine, gas bottles with hose reel, a hydraulic hose reel and an air compressor with storage reservoir. A jib crane or optional tail-lift is also provided to assist with handling the heavier items of equipment to and from the load body.
