A Flat Deck RRV capable of carrying a standard 20 ft container

On road the Freight RRV can carry 5 tonnes plus the box, whilst remaining within the axle weight limit as set out in the Road Traffic Act.

On rail the Freight RRV can carry 10 tonnes of material plus the box to remain within the design parameters of the chassis and rail frames.

The calculations allow for a flat deck on the RRV. So if the two tonne container is lifted off, a flat deck is available for normal materials handling, carrying 12 tonnes on rail and 7 tonnes on road.

The maximum height above rail is 3.95m, which is within the allowable envelope when on rail.

The two tonne container could be configured as a ‘reefer’ to transport agricultural produce to market.
